Passing on of Dr. Megha Londhe (MBBS batch of 1985)
by cmcadmin
Dear friends,
We are sorry to inform you of the passing on of Dr. Megha Chani (nee Londhe) (MBBS batch of 1985) on 11 June 2026 at her home in Roorkee. She was fifty-nine.

Megha was born on 12 September 1966 to Dr Robert Londhe and Mrs Ethel Londhe, their second child and only daughter. She had her primary school education in the United Kingdom. After her parents returned to India to serve in a small mission hospital at Dhamtari, Megha completed her schooling in Chhattisgarh.
In 1985, Megha joined the MBBS course at the Christian Medical College, Vellore. Her leadership skills, faith, perseverance, creativity, and attention to detail were very evident in the many posts she held during her years in CMC: Speaker for the Women’s Hostel Association, Lazarus House Captain, General Secretary for the Evangelical Union and General Secretary for the Lady Interns’ Quarters. Her lovely singing voice graced chapel services and music competitions. She was a gifted writer, a generous and loyal friend.
After completing her DGO and MD (OG) at CMC Vellore, Megha served as a consultant obstetrician at the mission hospital in Dhamtari, stepping into the void left by her father’s early death. In 1997, she married Dr. Prabhjot Chani (Professor and Head of Architecture at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, Uttarakhand). Their daughter, Sheba, now a PhD Scholar at IIT Roorkee, was born in 1999. For over two decades, Megha and Prabhjot have been ministering to their Christian Fellowship, mentoring students and families, with an abiding impact on many young lives in Uttarakhand and beyond. Her faith and courage through six months of a terminal illness inspired the same in many who met her.
Megha is survived by her mother, Ethel; husband, Prabhjot; daughter, Sheba; brothers, Atul Londhe and Vaibhav Londhe (Associate Director, CMC Vellore); her mother-in-law; sisters-in-law; two nephews and a niece. Much more could be written about Megha’s life and legacy, but months before her death, she had stressed, repeatedly, that her obituary ‘should not be long or flowery’. ‘You must keep it very brief.’
Your faith, hope and love remain a lasting witness, dear Megha. Rest in peace.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved members of the family at this time.
Sincerely
Smitha Jasper
